Project Case — Municipal Car Park Barrier Gate System

The Kota Kinabalu City Hall car park moved to double boom barriers with QR ticketing on entry and exit, cutting the tailback onto the public road from about 200 metres to under 40 metres in the busiest hour.

Challenge
Two lanes served roughly 700 vehicles during the Saturday peak, and the single ticket machine could not keep up, so the queue regularly reached the public road. There was also no reliable count of vehicles on site, and monthly permit holders queued behind casual parkers.
Solution
We installed BRX-6000 double boom barriers on entry and exit with a QR entry station, plus a white-listed lane for the 240 monthly permit holders. The controller publishes a live occupancy count to the council operations room, and each barrier is paired with an inductive loop so the arm only lowers once the vehicle has cleared.
Result
Peak-hour tailback on the public road fell from about 200 metres to under 40 metres, entry now clears in 4-6 seconds per vehicle, and the council has a live occupancy figure instead of a manual tally.
