An Ipoh toll plaza replaced its end-of-life lane barriers with BRX-SG1200 high-speed gates, holding more than 850 transactions per hour per lane through the festive-season peak without closing a lane.

Challenge
The existing barriers cycled in about 3 seconds and were rated only for intermittent use, so the busiest lanes were taken out of service for maintenance during the very peaks they were needed for, pushing traffic into adjacent lanes.
Solution
BRX-SG1200 high-speed barrier gates with brushless DC drives, a 0.6-second opening time and a continuous-duty rating were fitted on the six busiest lanes. A reinforced arm with a breakaway joint limits damage if a vehicle misjudges the lane, and each gate reports fault status to the plaza control room over the existing network.
Result
Sustained throughput held above 850 transactions per hour per lane through the festive peak, no lane had to be closed during peak hours over the 12-month review, and barrier maintenance dropped to one scheduled service per year.
