Project Case — Logistics Warehouse Radar Sensor Upgrade
Release time:
2026-09-23
A Klang distribution centre replaced infrared presence sensors with BRX-RS77 77 GHz millimetre-wave radar, so boom barriers now detect a stationary prime mover reliably in rain, dust and headlight glare.
- Industry: Logistics warehouse
- Country / Region: Klang, Selangor, Malaysia
- Model: BRX-RS77 77 GHz radar sensor + BRX barrier
- Commissioned: 2025
Challenge
The previous infrared sensors failed in heavy rain and when a truck stopped with its headlights on the sensor, which either held the barrier down on a moving vehicle or kept it open on an empty lane. Every false reading cost the site an intervention from a guard.
Solution
Each of the four yard lanes was fitted with a BRX-RS77 77 GHz radar sensor for presence and direction detection, paired with a matched boom barrier and inductive loop. The radar is unaffected by rain, dust and glare and reports direction, so the controller can distinguish an approaching from a departing vehicle.
Result
False barrier events from weather and headlight glare stopped, lane clearance time held at about 4 seconds per vehicle in wet weather, and guard interventions for barrier faults fell from several per day to none in the review period.
