A container terminal in Bintulu fitted heavy-duty barriers and gate RFID readers on four truck lanes, reducing the average gate transaction from about 88 seconds to 32 seconds and shortening the morning truck queue by around 60%.

Challenge
Gate clerks keyed each container movement in by hand, so transactions took about 88 seconds and trucks queued outside the terminal through the morning. There was also no automatic confirmation that the truck presented matched the container on the chassis.
Solution
Four lanes received BRX-8000 heavy-duty barriers with reinforced arms and gate RFID readers. Container and chassis tags are read as the truck crosses the loop, the controller validates the pair against the terminal system and either raises the barrier automatically or holds it and alerts the clerk, with a camera snapshot written to each record.
Result
Average gate transaction time fell about 64% from 88 to 32 seconds, the morning truck queue shortened by roughly 60%, and every container movement now carries an automatic tag-and-plate record instead of a keyed entry.
