A railway station in Johor Bahru installed BRX-TS900 flap barrier turnstiles across eight concourse lanes, letting about 4,800 passengers per hour pass the gate line in both directions without a staffed check.

Challenge
Concourse access was controlled by staffed wicket gates that could handle only about 1,600 passengers per hour, which produced standing queues on the platform during the evening peak. The station also needed to prevent passengers entering through the exit lane and to keep unauthorised persons off the platform.
Solution
Eight BRX-TS900 flap barrier turnstiles were configured in four entry and four exit lanes, with a 0.4-second flap action, bidirectional infra-red tailgating detection and a fail-safe open on fire alarm. Each unit accepts the station's existing ticket media through a dry-contact interface, so no ticketing changes were needed.
Result
Theoretical gate-line capacity rose from about 1,600 to 4,800 passengers per hour, evening-peak queues on the concourse stopped forming, and tailgating warnings dropped by an estimated 90% with no additional platform marshals.
