A Malaysian highway toll plaza replaced failing lane barriers with BRX-SG1200 high-speed gates rated for 0.6-second cycles, sustaining more than 900 transactions per hour per lane through the morning peak without a ramp closure.

Challenge
The plaza's older barriers had a 3-second cycle and were rated for intermittent use, so the busiest lanes needed frequent maintenance and occasionally had to be closed during peak hours, forcing vehicles into adjacent lanes and increasing toll-lane accidents.
Solution
We supplied BRX-SG1200 high-speed barrier gates designed for continuous duty, with brushless DC motors, a 0.6-second opening time, and a reinforced aluminium arm with a breakaway joint so that a misjudged vehicle damages a low-cost part instead of the drive unit. Each gate interfaces to the existing toll-lane controller and reports fault status to the plaza control room.
Result
Sustained throughput rose above 900 transactions per hour per lane, unplanned lane closures during peak hours were eliminated over the 12-month review period, and barrier maintenance visits fell from roughly monthly to a single scheduled service.
